The Angevins
The country had been in the grip of civil war under Stephen, as he battled with Matilda, the daughter of Henry I. Peace was restored in 1154, by Matilda's powerful son Henry II. Because Matilda had married the French Count of Anjou, Henry II and his sons, Richard I and John, are called the Angevin kings. The Angevin dynasty lasted until 1216.
