Mary, known as Mary, Queen of Scots, came to the Scottish throne as a baby in 1542. Educated in, and briefly Queen of, France, she was lovely but not wise. Driven out of Scotland at the age of 24, she fled to her cousin, Elizabeth I, who imprisoned her and, after 20 years, had her executed.
