Henry Tudor became Henry VII in 1485, following his victory over Richard III at Bosworth. He wisely married Edward IV's daughter Elizabeth. In doing so, he joined the battling houses of Lancaster and York and ended the Wars of the Roses. Although there were a few minor uprisings early in his reign, Henry Tudor kept England peaceful until his death in 1509, and made the country and the monarchy rich again.
